Growing up in Michigan, my parents taught me the value of working hard and working together. My dad set an example when he left the house at 5:30 every day to go to his job at GM. The belief that we could all do more together led me to join the Navy, Army, and National Guard.
My service in the military taught me that when you make a promise, you follow through. That led me to work on the evacuation of Afghan-American US Army Soldiers and their families during the Afghanistan withdrawal, and as a leader at the Truman Center for National Policy and Truman National Security Project. Between my military service, I earned degrees in Law (Go Blue!), Economics, and Aerospace Engineering, and led companies in the private sector.
Tripp has always been called to serve, whether in the Navy, Army, Michigan Army National Guard, or as a leader in the private sector — but running for Congress was never part of Tripp’s plan.
As Republican attacks on working families and our democratic values became more urgent, and too many Democratic politicians resorted to the same failed tactics of the past, Tripp’s call to run and win became more clear.
Tripp is a different type of Democrat, who is building a campaign to win by meeting voters wherever they are – from union halls and living room town halls to community events and churches – and focusing on solutions to issues that matter in people’s daily lives:
